Quote:
"Take a breath, Thomas. There has always been fear. There will always be fear. It's up to us to stand tall, even when the fear demands we bow to it." - Fawkes, Nadine Brandes
Context:
Today I decided to talk about something that I'm pretty sure we've all dealt with at some point: fear. It's that nagging voice in the back of our minds that tells us we're not good enough, that we could fail, or get injured, that we're not prepared. SO many fears. And all those nagging what ifs that get so easily wrapped around our mind. What if things are about to go terribly wrong? What if my whole life is about to change? What if? It’s so easy to get caught up it when your future is unknown, letting fear dictate our decisions, and controlling our mind.
Now, reread the quote above. Take a breath. There has always been fear, and will always be fear. It's a reality we can't escape, but it's how we respond to it that matters. We must decide to stand up or bow down. And it starts with trusting God, even when we don't have all the answers. It is the only way to stand up against fears. We can either let fear control us, or we can choose to stand firm in our faith.
For me, these past few months have been filled with uncertainty in several ways. 2025 will be looking different for my family, in ways I don’t even know. It is so easy to let fear take control. But in truth, I have never and will never know what the future holds. The verse below provides so much encouragement to me!
“Cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7(ESV)
Trusting God in the unknown is a journey. There are times when I feel like I'm walking on shaky ground, unsure of what's around the corner. But the more I’m learning to rely on God, the more I've realized that He is always with me. And I feel such peace in that!
When we trust God with an unknown future, it's not about having all the answers. It's about surrendering our fears and doubts to Him, and choosing to believe that He is God. It's about trusting that He is working everything out for our good, even when we can't see it.
In closing, I want to leave you with this, when we trust God with an unknown future, we're choosing to walk in His perfect love, even when fear demands we bow. And remember only He knows what is best for us! We must choose to trust Him because He loves us.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.” Psalms 56:3-4(ESV)
