REVIEW:

An adorable story, set in Pipers Cove, following the main character, Sophie Lawson. Sophie is opening a bookshop which was a dream of her mom’s since she was little. She is so excited to make that dream come true!

Sophie has sacrificed a lot when her father left her family. Instead of going to her dream college, she stayed home to take care of her sick mother. She will do everything she can to help her siblings have a normal life and make things as easiest as possible for them.

Several years later her sister is getting married and everything seems to be going well, but there is a problem. Her highschool sweetheart is at the wedding and she is reminded of the hurt she felt all those years ago. Sophie continues to remind herself that he will be gone the next day and she can work on opening her bookshop.

But disaster strikes and it looks like Aiden is no longer leaving. Past feelings and hurt are brought up, as well as new emotions.

This book is a sweet story and lovely journey of two characters reliving their past and learning to forgive. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and read it so quickly! It was nice to have an easy but adorable read! It was clean and had christian themes woven throughout. This is a christian book, but it was not overly pushy at all. It was written very well. Overall, a lovely story!

WARNINGS:

Kissing // Light romantic tension

TAKEAWAYS:

Throughout the story Sophie learns while having a servant's heart is great, people can take advantage of it and use it to their advantage. She also learns that people grow and change. Even though it’s hard, she learns to forgive, just like God gives her grace and forgiveness too.

The Blurb

Sophie Lawson should be enjoying her sister’s wedding day. But nothing could have prepared her to see the best man again.

After her mother became bedridden and her father bailed on the family, Sophie found herself serving as a second mother to her twin brother, Seth, and younger sister, Jenna. Sophie supported her siblings through their college years, putting aside her own dream of opening a bookshop in Piper’s Cove—the quaint North Carolina beach town they frequented as children.

Now it’s finally time for Sophie to follow her own pursuits. Seth has a new job, and Jenna is set to marry her college beau in Piper’s Cove. But the destination wedding reunites Sophie with best man Aiden Maddox, her high school sweetheart who left her without a backward glance.

When an advancing hurricane strands Aiden in Piper’s Cove after the wedding, he finds the hotels booked to capacity and has to ask Sophie to put him up until the storm passes. As the two ride out the weather, old feelings rise to the surface. The delay also leaves Sophie with mere days to get her bookshop up and running. Can she trust Aiden to stick around? And will he find the courage to risk his heart?
