REVIEW:

Agents for the company W.R.A.T.H, Lani Quentin and Edmund Pyre star in this debut novella. I was instantly drawn into this world but not overwhelmingly so. Their unique mentorship relationship had me engaged from page one, guessing for answers in their backstory. Lani, having one of the rarest superpowers, is content with her life and wants to remain in the shadows and stay hidden from the spotlight. Her mentor, Pyre has a mission to accomplish, keep her powers from getting into the wrong hands and not let old scars open again.  But a quest to discover the power inside, and where it comes from may conflict with that. 

I believe Vanessa Scott did something fabulous here. Full of cool fights, futuristic tech, superpowers, beautiful descriptions, fun dialogue, dynamic characters, intricate worldbuilding and fascinating backstory aspects weaved into every twist and turn. The descriptions made this story come alive in my mind and visualization came easy, taking this novella to a new level. I could see the events unfolding before my eyes and could only gasp at each new revelation. A fantastic story!

TAKEAWAYS:

I loved how this story had heavy elements in it, strong themes, but wasn't overly dark or pushy. A clean an easy read with intensity. For sci-fi readers who want an epic action paced futuristic story with heavy elements but clean and interesting, I would highly recommend.
