A Christmas Blog; Light of the World

Merry Christmas!

There is just something beautiful about this time of year, isn't there? The celebrations, pretty decorations, hot cocoa, the sound of carols and of course those twinkling lights. A season full of so much joy, yet, so often it is easy to miss the reason for the season, as they say. Are you in view of a Christmas tree right now? Or Christmas lights? Well if so, I want you to take a moment and look at them. The beauty. The softness.

As I sit here, cuddled up by the glowing Christmas tree, I find myself mesmerized by the soft, glimmering lights. They twinkle like stars, creating a sense of wonder that is hard to put into words.

"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life'." - John 8:12(ESV)

Just like the lights on our Christmas tree, Jesus brings light into our lives, illuminating our paths with hope and love. The beauty of Christmas lights is so lovely. They fill our homes with warmth, reflecting the true essence of God’s holy light. When I gaze at the twinkling bulbs wrapped around the branches, I am reminded of how these lights resemble the divine light that came into the world—the light that shone brightly in a humble manger, announcing the birth of our Savior.

Throughout this season, I encourage you, when you see Christmas lights, to remind yourself of His holy light. Breath a prayer of thanks to Him for He sent his one and only son for us. For His love for us. I think that is just such a lovely picture.

Poem:

Christmas trees and lights so bright
A painting of the perfect love
The birth of Him has come tonight
The one and only from above

The beauty of light so soft, so sweet
Light, a reminisce of peace
The Savior’s first breath has come to greet
The Father’s love, a gentle breeze

Through a baby in a manger
He has come to redeem
The hope of the Savior
To all who believe

With Christmas lights and carols
We praise the King of Kings
The One Immortal
Emmanuel to whom we cling
