Diving into History; Pursuing Purpose

Quote:

"A PURPOSE...we each have one. Pursue yours, it's calling you." - The Patriot’s Daughter by Kamryn Green

Context:

Isn’t that quote just beautiful? When I was thinking through what quote to use from this book, this one immediately stood out and met me where I’m at. It got me thinking about the big, scary, and sometimes thrilling concept of purpose—this is especially true for my current season of life. I am graduating highschool this year, which means there are a lot of decisions ahead! Scary ones and exciting ones.

Planning for the future can get seriously overwhelming. It feels like you have to have everything mapped out right now, which is super intimidating. But here’s a comforting truth: you don’t have to have all the answers today. Or tomorrow.

Navigating life’s ups and downs and trying to launch into adult-hood can definitely hold some fear. Lot’s of fear. It is so hard to filter through the noise and figure out what really matters, but that’s where purpose comes in.

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

There are so many places in the Bible where God tells us he has a plan and a purpose for us. All we have to do is lean into that and trust his plan. But that can be overwhelming. So many questions come into my head.

What if this isn’t my purpose?

What if this is not what God had planned for me?

How do I know if this is what I should do?

And so so many more questions.

We need to understand that it’s okay to fail. It’s okay to not get everything right the first time. Actually, it’s not even possible for everything to work perfectly! So remember, it is okay to fail. Seriously! In fact, it’s part of the process.

If I’m being honest, I have the hardest time remembering that. I am such a perfectionist and want everything to just always go smoothly. It is so easy to get caught up in trying to be perfect when really, our lives are just messy. But each setback offers us a chance to learn and grow. Failing doesn’t make a failure; it actually produces perseverance! And every misstep is simply a stepping stone toward understanding your purpose.

Focus on taking it one step at a time. When God gives you something—an opportunity, a talent, or a big dream—take it and follow each little step He lays out for you. Trust that He’s guiding you, even when the path seems foggy or bumpy.

It's also essential to remember that as Christians, our ultimate purpose is to pursue God and make Him known. Even in the little things, like how we treat others or the love we show to those around us, we reflect His light.

Finding purpose is a journey, not a destination. The cool part is that God’s grace is the ultimate guide, nudging us along the way—even through the bumps and turns.

Remember this quote and let it encourage you today! “A purpose. Pursue yours, it’s calling you.” Each one of us has something unique to offer, and I hope you find the spark that lights up your purpose in this beautiful world. Take a step, and He’ll guide your way.

Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Ephesians 2:10: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
