Quote:
"I am blown away that my God, who could do this all by Himself, would choose to let me be a little part of it." - Katie Davis Majors
Context:
Through this quote I couldn’t help but think about Katie’s incredible journey and how her selfless love has made such a huge impact on so many lives. Right after Katie graduated high school, instead of heading off to college like most teens, she felt a powerful calling to move to Uganda. Can you even imagine? Leaving everything you know—your family, your friends, your comfort zone—to journey across the world and serve others? Honestly, I don’t know if I could ever do that. It’s a massive leap of faith, and it shows just how deeply she wanted to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
When she arrived in Uganda, Katie saw firsthand the struggles that many children faced, especially girls who were often overlooked and marginalized. Rather than just observing the challenges, she jumped in with both feet. Her heart was filled with such a strong desire to spread God’s love, and that meant stepping out of her comfort zone and truly serving the community. That’s so inspiring!
One of the most beautiful things Katie has done is adopt 13 girls, making them her own. She didn’t just see them as projects or numbers; she saw them as daughters who deserved love, attention, and a future filled with hope. Each girl she has welcomed into her family has experienced a transformation—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually, too. Katie loves these girls wholeheartedly, showing them that they are valued, cherished, and capable of greatness.
It’s amazing how, through her actions, Katie embodies the essence of unconditional love. She pours her heart into not just providing for their needs, but also nurturing their spirits. Her selflessness is a powerful reminder to all of us that while we might not be able to change the entire world, we can certainly change the world for one person. And that’s exactly what Katie has done, day in and day out.
Her story has inspired so many others to step outside their own lives and serve those in need, bringing hope and joy where it’s often lacking. We may not all be called to move to Uganda, but we can definitely find ways to make an impact in our own communities or even within our circles of family and friends.
As you go about your day, think about how you can show God’s love to someone in your life. Maybe it’s a random act of kindness, being a listening ear for a friend, or volunteering for something that’s important to you. No act of love is too small because every single one has the potential to change someone’s world, just like Katie has done.
You can tell through Katie’s books that she truly has a love and heart for others. She is constantly seeking ways to help amidst struggle and yet, through all of it, she remains humble and only gives credit to God. She went through so many trials with seeing the utter pain of the Ugandan people, let alone moving across the world, and yet, she is blown away she got to be part of God’s plan. Katie has such an amazing heart for the Lord and I find her story so encouraging.
